BLUE VALENTINE

Two pure voices have combined to create ‘Blue Valentine’. The awesome raw talent and vocals of Fiona Harris has combined with the prodigious and legendary force of Richard Lawson to create a unique and ethereal blend of Country, Folk and Pop Music.

They met quite by chance over two years ago when Richard happened to see Fiona performing with a musical friend of his at a local vineyard in Mudgee. He was still playing in another band at the time but the seed was sown that day.

Blue Valentine have now been performing for some time now and have already firmly entrenched themselves in the local music scene garnering praise and gathering plenty of work. They have turned into one of the hardest working and most sought after duos in Mudgee.

Live, they use no backing tapes, no gimmicks; just a guitar and two voices. But the combination of their soaring harmonies and their emotional and soul felt delivery is proving irresistible to anyone who hears them.

RUMOUR MILL

Rumour Mill is a four piece band based in Mudgee, a farming and winegrowing town in the central ranges of NSW, Australia.

Rumour Mill officially formed in the New Year of 2005 from the ashes of Tangent who had been on the Mudgee music scene for a number of years. The band is fronted by vocalist/acoustic guitarist Stephen Price with bass player/vocalist Danielle Scott guitarist/vocalist Thomas Bagnell and drummer Mark Cunningham.

Everyone agreed on the name Rumour Mill from a long list of possibles. Much later they realised how relevant the name is amongst a small population where the news ¬- good, bad or totally inaccurate ¬- can make its way around town faster than a grassfire.

In keeping with conventional wisdom (?!) that said an all-original band would never get gigs in a country town, the band's early setlist was a mix of 60s standards, classic 80s numbers from the likes of REM, Eurythmics, Paul Kelly and a scattering of Stephen's already well-known originals.

Mid way through 2005, Stephen and Danielle began to write more material and the band now plays an all original repertoire, fully embraced by the community and local venues. Early in the Autumn of 2006, Thomas Bagnell, who had played with Stephen in earlier days, returned to Mudgee and joined Rumour Mill as a guitarist and harmony vocalist.

Rumour Mill's sound is more than pop...but not straight rock either: sharp songwriting with maybe a bluesy bass here and a rocking chorus there combined with strong melodies, distinctive harmonies and great hooks.

Stephen specialises in the human frailty side of things while Danielle likes to hit people over the head with her views on cult religions, consumerism and global warming.
